The Little Ball of Hate remembers why he hates Shaka Smart:
Thankfully Bilas keeps his Kentucky love on the down low tonight.
Smart, former Texas asshole, comes back into our life.
With a lack of point guard depth, Harris could get worn down this season.
Marquette is good, but their bullying style of play would make Huggins proud
Marquette came out hot. Early Kansas turnovers and Golden Eagles on fire from the three point line equals a slow start for KU. Marquette is faster than KU throughout the game and got to more loose balls.
Once again Timberlake is cold. No threes, giving up three pointers and turnovers is a bad combination.
It’s clear that Adams and Dickinson are getting very comfortable as teammates. Great passing between them. Would like to see more high-low offense with those two.
Guard play for Marquette is impressive. Their point guard is a great passer, and Shawn Jones reminds me of Sherron Collins.
At 3:00 left in the first half, Dickinson gets tied up in the paint, then there’s a lot of talking between the coaching staffs. I get the feeling that Shaka Smart was the kind of kid in school who was the instigator, then ran away. Bill Self won’t back down. I would love to see a fight between Self and Smart. Self has the reach. I would have paid to see Self cold clock Smart in the face when they were shaking hands after the game.
Looks like Marquette is a bunch of shit talkers. I guess they take after their head coach. Shaka Smart is a piece of crap.
Second half hot takes
Feels like we are playing West Virginia under Huggins in Morgantown, a lot of fouls, hardly any of them called. To me that is a good thing to face early in the season. We’ll deal with this against West Virginia and Oklahoma St. when conference play starts.
Next time Self should just cold cock Smart.
Takeaways
Too many turnovers, 18 of them, unacceptable. Plus no outside presence, and a lack of driving penetration was terrible. That adds up to a loss.
With 18:15 left Harris picked up his 3rd foul. Self forced to leave him in. Lack of depth at the point guard position is going to be an issue all season long. Who is Harris’ backup? McCullar? Jackson? Timberlake? KU needs somebody to step up or Harris will wear out during the season.
KU may have to go through Marquette when March Madness comes around. Oh yeah and fuck you Shaka Smart.
