A lot to unpack after the second week of college football. The Little Ball of Hate did not see that NU halftime score coming. 28-0! Wow.
The Huskers Blackshirts set the tone with 6 sacks of Sanders, with 10 tackles for loss.
NU clearly dominates the Buffs 28-10: When does the playoff talk start?
If you would have told me that Nebraska would hold Colorado to negative rushing yards at half and only 14 yards total, I would have asked to take a hit of what you were smoking.
Nebraska’s defense dominated the line all day long. Looks like Coach Prime needs to pay a little more for his offensive line in the future. And let me say, this shows you the difference between how two programs are built. CUs offensive line is made up of four transfers and on freshman recruit. Meanwhile NUs offensive line is made up of: LT Turner Corcoran (Senior, NU recruit), LG Justin Evans (Sophomore, NU recruit), C Ben Scott (Senior, Arizona State Transfer last year), RG Micah Mazzccua (Senior, Florida Transfer this season), RT Bryce Benhart (Senior, NU recruit).
All told, this season CU has 49 transfers, meanwhile NU has 19 transfers. I think this is telling, Coach Prime thinks he is running an NFL team and Coach Rhule is trying to build a program.
My question is, after his two sons graduate (or transfer) how long does Coach Prime stay? My guess is he is gone to the NFL.
Second-half snooze fest
After the carnage of the first half (4 sacks, no points for CU), the second half was kind of a dud.
Although I will say, the refs did their best to keep the game from getting out of hand. At least two big Husker plays (one a TD) brought back on some bogus blocking calls.
Also the Buffs only scoring drive came after a long catch and pass run that was only possible because an egregious hold by CU’s line was not called.
All in all, Dylan Raiola and the offense did what they had to do, no turnovers and keep the clock running. Raiola’s numbers were not superstar numbers (23-for-30, 185 yards 1 TD), but he made big plays when he had to, including a 12-yard scramble to keep the first scoring drive alive.
I kinda wish Raiola wouldn’t have trolled Shedeur Sanders after the game…but then again it is Colorado.
Raiola trolling the Sanders family
Showing true class(less) Sanders family
Well, did the true colors show or what? Sheduer Sanders heads to the locker room before the end of the game. I say if you dish it out and can’t take it, you are weak and your character is questionable. Some are suggesting that he was hurt with a possible concussion, but Coach Prime said he was not hurt and it was precautionary. Oh and he had his two photographers filming him as he walked off the field.
Coach Prime’s quote after the game: "I’m always rooting for them unless they play us. But I’m happy — if we’re gonna get our butts kicked, might as well be him, a God-fearing man,” Colorado coach Deion Sanders said after Nebraska's win.
This from the same guy who ripped Rhule after he supposedly disrespected him and his family before last year’s game. Whatever…your act is definitely old.
Now time to move on, Northern Iowa next
Next five games for NU: Northern Iowa (H), Illinois (H), Purdue (R), Rutgers (H), Indiana (R). And yes I am now fully drinking the Kool-Aid. I don’t know enough about Purdue this year, but the rest of them, we should be favored and win them all. That makes us 7-0 before going to Columbus vs. Ohio State. My Kool-Aid is not spiked, OSU will beat us, but I think it will be close.
Final four games: UCLA (H), USC (R), Wisconsin (H), Iowa (R). I really hope that UCLA game on Nov. 2 is a night game and it is -10 degrees wind chill…to see the Bruins have to play in those conditions. Welcome to Big Ten football!I see at least 2 wins in there.
So it is not inconceivable for Nebraska to finish 10-2 or 9-3. And that gets you into the football playoff conversation. I can already hear the Little Ball of Hate’s friends saying yeah right, when was the last time NU had a winning season, yada, yada, yada…and don’t get me wrong I get it, but I do like the direction this program is going.
Tidbits from elsewhere
Northern Illinois upsets Notre Dame underneath touchdown Jesus 16-14. Wow! Biggest shock of the year by far. Oh and ND paid N. Illinois how much? $1.4 million? Lol. Oh and former Westside Warrior Cade Haberman is the guy who blocked the last ND field goal.
Teams that escape other upsets and arguably got away with help. Oklahoma State has to go into OT to beat Arkansas (39-31), Kansas State gets lucky against Tulane (34-27) thanks to a highly questionable offensive pass interference call that took away a Green Wave TD.
KU lays an egg against Illinois on the road 23-17. Jalen Daniels threw 3 interceptions. Hoping KU doesn’t pull a Huskers move and give games away this year.
