The Little Ball of Hate’s takes on a terrible loss by KU.
Kansas goes down to UCF 65-60, joining No. 1 Purdue and No. 2 Houston with losses. The Top 3 teams go down in less than a week.
This was bound to happen. Too many games so far this year the Jayhawks have blown a double-digit lead. This time, KU didn’t have enough answers. A 16-point lead with 2 minutes left in the first half.
Hunter Dickinson disappeared in the second half. Welcome to the Big 12 Hunter, you will be playing in games like this every time you take the court from now until the middle of February. Dickinson, you are on the All-American list, you got to step up.. You say you transferred to KU for this reason, now it’s time to put your NIL money where your mouth is.
I knew the Big 12 conference season was going to be difficult this year with the usual suspects of ranked teams, but adding in all the other teams that will put KU on the calendar for an upset makes it even harder.
McCullar's shot late in the game gets blocked. UCF kept him and Dickinson in check.
To be fair, KU got help from the bench with Furphy (9 points) and Timberlake (5 points). But to be sure, they’ll need more of that help, however Dickinson, McCullars, Adams and Harris need to lead this team. There are going to be many, many games like this when one of these guys is going to have to carry this team like a sack.
Go down the list of guys who have carried KU on their backs in the coaching tenure of Bill Self: Jalen Wilson, Ochai Agbaji, Udoka Azubuike, and Dedric Lawson.
And no time to lick your wounds with No. 9 Oklahoma visiting Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Tidbits
Who becomes No. 1? UConn? KU beat them. Tennessee? They lost too. Kentucky? Oh yeah KU beat them as well. This week has thrown the gauntlet on this season. Get ready for a crazy ride!
As it stands now, and the way things are going it could change just like that, the Big 12 has 6 teams in the Top 25. I would say it will be the best basketball conference again.
